“Lal Kach” (Red Glass) festival is celebrated in the local Hindu communities around Dhaka Division for many decades. In the very last day of Bangla calendar in the month of Chaitra, Hindu communities come together for Lal Kach festival dedicated to Lord Shiva and Parvati. Men special young ones paint themselves and their swords with the color red and start procession in the village streets and march towards local temples. The idea behind the program is a group of shoulders led by Lord Shiva to appear on earth with a mission of defeat the forces of evil while welcoming the Bangla New year (Pohela Boisakh).
